simple crab cakes

We are lucky enough to have friends with a cabin on an island in south end of Puget Sound, with access to crabbing basically right out the back door (and down some steep stairs!).  So every year we get some wonderful fresh crab.  I came across this picture on my phone from a while ago, so I thought I would go ahead and share.

I personally am a fan of very simple crab cakes.  I like to taste the crab - and the northwest style of putting all kinds of veggies and filler in crab cakes just doesn't do it for me.  I just want crab, and enough egg and cracker crumbs to make it stick together, and maybe a hint of seasoning.  So that's all this is.  Fried in butter until golden brown.  For this one I just made a little dipping sauce of mayo, lemon juice, salt and pepper.  and then I eat enough to make myself sick.
