I cooked garbanzo beans for the first time ever. I don't know why I've never cooked them before, I've never really thought about it, I've just bought canned. But it is so true, home cooked beans taste so much better than canned, seasoned with just a little salt near the end of cooking. And they really are easy, it just takes a little time.
We had them last night with some rice & chard - brown basmati rice, cooked with onion, garlic, chicken broth, a little of the liquid from the beans, and a lot of chard. And today for lunch I made myself a simple salad of kale, tomatoes and garbanzos, dressed with just sesame oil, olive oil and bragg's aminos. Really yummy - and my little girls were even stealing bites of it.
