Busy mom life: it takes a toll

As a busy mom it can be really easy to slip into the habit of putting everyone else’s needs first and ignoring your own. It's even more of a slippery slope of self neglect if you have a child with special needs. I’ve been super guilty about not taking of myself over the last many years, and I can feel the effects of it.

I've had a bit of an awakening lately, and I think I'm finally realizing that putting my needs aside and prioritizing everyone else all of the time is not actually helping anybody.

So I'm working on fixing that. I am trying really hard now to focus more on taking care of myself - because I know I can be an even better mom when I feel better. I am trying to get more rest, eat better, drink less wine and more water, take my vitamins, and take more time for self care and a little pampering.

A while back, when I was going through a particularly hard time, an old friend sent me a care package. It was full of some of the most wonderful skin and personal care products I’ve ever used, all from a brand I’d never heard of. These beautiful blue glass bottles contained the most wonderful smelling things to help me pamper my skin. It all felt so special, and came just when I needed it most.

I’ve experimented with a lot of skin care brands over the years, always trying to find something that I could make a part of my daily routine. I’ve tried some of the most popular high end brands, and some drugstore brands, and everything in between.

I tried many lovely things, but no one brand that ever seemed like the right fit for me. But the Neal's Yard Remedies products - the blue bottles from London that my friend sent me - were different. It's the only skin care I've ever found that really felt right for me, for my lifestyle, and my values.

I love the way these products make my skin feel, and I feel like I’m having a mini spa moment every time I inhale the wonderful botanical scents. I truly feel like I am taking good care of myself when I put these products on my skin, and taking good care of myself is what I'm all about right now.

I’ve talked a lot over the years on the blog about how I try to buy organic foods as much as I feel like we can reasonably afford, and I focus our meals and snacking around as much whole, raw, natural, and unprocessed foods as I can.

That’s one more thing I love about NYR Organic products - they are not full of the junk that so many others are. These products are made with lots of ethically sourced, natural, and organic ingredients - herbs, botanicals, and oils. The ingredients are sustainable and ethically traded, the factory is designed to be green, the packaging (those beautiful blue bottles!) is green and recyclable, and they’ve even launched a campaign to help save honeybees. The more I read about them, the more I love everything they stand for, in addition to the products!

So anyway, long story… I was running low on a few favorites and I was going to place an order for myself before we headed off for our summer travels.

But my list got a bit long, and I realized that since I was ordering quite a few things I was better off going ahead and signing up as a consultant and getting all of the extra products that come with the starter kit. I figured I might as well just go for it! Now I get to share more of the things I love with you - which is one of the things I love most about this blog platform, and one of the main reasons I do this!

So that's all just a really long way of saying that now you can order NYR Organic products through me

I haven’t tried everything, but I know the folks who have, so if you have any questions definitely hit me up and if I can’t answer I will find someone who can.

So there you have it - my newest favorite thing!
